On the sidelines of his visit to Malaysia from Jan 10-12, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono plans to meet Indonesian migrant worker Nirmala Bonat who has been tortured by her Malaysian employer, Presidential spokesman Andi Malarangeng said at Halim Perdanakusuma airport here on Thursday.
"President Yudhoyono`s main agenda during the visit to Malaysia is about the issue of Indonesian migrant workers in the country and to meet Nirmala Bonat," Andi said, adding that Yudhoyono would ask for serious attention from Malaysian government to the protection of Indonesian migrant workers in the country.
Andi said Malaysia should protect Indonesian workers there as Indonesia also protects Malaysians and other foreigners.
"The state`s responsibility is to protect all Indonesians at home and abroad," Andi said.
