The International Music Score Library Project (IMSLP), a website devoted to preserving and sharing public domain music scores, has shut down after receiving a second Cease & Desist letter from Universal Edition. The C&D was sent due to differences in laws regarding copyright expiration between countries. The webmaster of the site made the decision to shut the site down because he could not afford the time or legal costs required to resolve the matter in court.

deusdiabolus, when such freedoms are curtailed as apposed to finding ways to adapt is regressive and speaks to the sad state of the music industry and it's ability to serve the consumer.
