Were you, like a bunch of other people, wandering why no country in the Middle East made a big deal about Israel violating Syria's arispace and bombing the "sovereign" country? Well, we now have that answer. The reason why the Israeli Special Operations team was on location was not to laser the target but to collect the nuclear material before the bombs hit.

After showing this evidence to President Bush he gave his seal of approval for the operation. Furthermore, North Korean scientists were among the casualities of the bombing raid. This has to at least partially explain why we have upped sanctions against the Communist country after a diplomatic breakthrough seemed at hand.

Israelis seized nuclear material in Syrian raid

Israeli commandos seized nuclear material of North Korean origin during a daring raid on a secret military site in Syria before Israel bombed it this month, according to informed sources in Washington and Jerusalem.

The attack was launched with American approval on September 6 after Washington was shown evidence the material was nuclear related, the well-placed sources say.

They confirmed that samples taken from Syria for testing had been identified as North Korean. This raised fears that Syria might have joined North Korea and Iran in seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.

Israeli special forces had been gathering intelligence for several months in Syria, according to Israeli sources. They located the nuclear material at a compound near Dayr az-Zwar in the north.

Evidence that North Korean personnel were at the site is said to have been shared with President George W Bush over the summer. A senior American source said the administration sought proof of nuclear-related activities before giving the attack its blessing.

Diplomats in North Korea and China believe a number of North Koreans were killed in the strike, based on reports reaching Asian governments about conversations between Chinese and North Korean officials.

Syrian officials flew to Pyongyang, the North Korean capital, last week, reinforcing the view that the two nations were coordinating their response.

Does any rational person still believe that Iran, who exerts a huge amount of influence on Syria, is trying to persue nuclear technology for peaceful reasons? These countries - Syria, North Korea, and Iran - represent the largest threat to the world right now. Overlooking this clear and present danger to satisify one's spurious political ideals - as in many people's defense of Columbia's having a talk with Ahmadinejad - gives these want-to-be nuclear bad boys all the diplomatic cover they need. BigT, thanks for getting this story out so quickly. It will now show up on the home page for four hours. If new developments justify it, I'll renew this flag for another cycle.

Thank you for getting this to us! This news is the biggest news to come out of the Middle East since the onset of hostilities after 9/11. One might recall the state actors in the Axis of Evil characterization; a huge validation. http://www.nowpublic.com/politics/iran-building-chemical-weapons-syria This is a link to furthur info about WMD collaboration between existing Axis of evil states. Incredible work Big T!

You wanna know who is making a big deal about
Israel violating Syria's airspace and bombing a sovereign country?

Me, man. That story about nuclear facilities in Syria was launched in "Sunday Times" with absolutely no proof - but more or less intelligent claims from secret services in Israel and the USA.

The main story about this story is: the Bush Government knew in advance that the Olmert Government would attack another country and supported it. And do not bluff about that sort of "weapons of mass destruction" thing again in here, man. Just think about 600.000 dead people right next to Syria, nobody should try to repeat that story. The main threat to the world is the Bush Government.

In contrast to the regimes of Iran or Syria they have A-bombs and are willing to use them, just like the Israeli military.

Back in mid July sometime, a Syrian manufacturing plant blew up.  Not much has been written about it but the story did appear in Jane's Monthly.  What happened is that many Syrian and Iranian engineers died in the mishap when these engineers were trying to fit missles with Sarin and VX gas.

It turns out that many of the citizens that were located near to the plant were also effected by the gas that was in the air after the explosion.

Is this where some of wepons of mass destruction from Iraq ended up?  Dya' think?

I am pretty sceptical about all this stuff too. All we have to go on is an unnamed "Special Operations team" telling us what is or has been happening. We better all get used to the fact that there is untold nuclear material floating around. Quite a bit of it has been put into commercial circulation by the Putin mafia - it's big business you know. I smell a rat - It all sounds a little too familiar. I am with Daniel Neun on this.

Thats the problem with today's struggles Tom, no one knows who to believe. It would take nothing short of a live video feed of the operation to convince some people, and even then it would be touted ad a mossad phys op. It really is about sourcing. Big T's article is well sourced. We will have to watch the events unfold this week to ascertain things for ourselves.
