RI-Australia security cooperation ratified
"This is another milestone in the strengthening of relations between the two neighboring countries," Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda said in his speech at a function of the signing of the draft law.
The draft law was signed at about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday after intensive discussions since 2 p.m.
Chairman of DPR`s Commission I Theo L Sambuaga guaranteed that the ratified draft law would soon be brought to the House plenary session to be passed into law.
Theo told ANTARA News that the security cooperation has at least five strategic points, namely, those on preventing and eradicating terrorism and international crimes, joint maritime security maintenance, averting proliferation of destructive weapons, and not letting each other`s territories become areas where separatism can develop.
