Speaking to the press after attending the closed-door meeting between Yudhoyono and Jiabao, Dino said the two leaders hoped that Yangon would exercise self-restraint and promote dialogs with the opposition to overcome the internal political crisis in that country.

"China and Indonesia will continue to assist and encourage reconciliation, democracy and development in Myanmar," Dino said.

Harsh actions categorized as human right abuses by Myanmar`s military government against peaceful demonstrators in Yangon recently has led certain quarters in Southeast Asia to call for Myanmar`s expulsion from ASEAN and the imposition of trade sanctions on the country.
