Tokyo (ANTARA News) - All Indonesian missions in Tokyo and Osaka on Sunday will provide a three-day opportunity for guests in Japan to extend their condolences on the death of former President Soeharto.
Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Jusuf Anwar said the consulate general office in Osaka had prepared the time and place for local government officials and foreign representatives to go to the Indonesian embassy in Tokyo and Osaka for the same purpose.
Suharto, 86, died of multiple organ failure at the Pertamina Hospital in Jakarta on Monday at 1.10 p.m. He was admitted at the hospital on January 4 with severe heart, lung and kidney problems.
"The activity at the Indonesian missions will be started on Monday (Jan 28) through Wednesday. Indonesian embassy and consulate general officials in Osaka have expressed their readiness to serve the guests," Jusuf Anwar said.
In the meantime, Indonesian consul general in Osaka Pitono Purnomo said he had informed the authorities in Central Japan, including parliamentarians and businessmen of the death of former President Soeharto.
"We have also informed them that the Indonesian consulate general in Osaka will provide an opportunity to guests wishing to extend their condolences," Pitono said.
Former President Soeharto (86) died on Sunday (Jan 27) at 13:10 after a two-week intensive medical treatment at the Pertamina Hospital in South Jakarta.
The Indonesian second president was admitted to the Pertamina Hospital Friday on January 4, 2008, for serious anemia and severe edema.
Born in Kemusuk village, Yogyakarta, on June 8, 1921, Soeharto ruled the country for 32 years through six consecutive general elections. (*) END
