RI, S`pore likely to resume DCA talks in 2008: minister

"I told him that we are waiting for a new phase in our diplomacy. Next year, God willing, the Indonesian foreign minister and his Singaporean counterpart will act as chief negotiators for their respective countries in negotiations on the extradition treaty, defense cooperation agreement and training areas," he said.

He said Singapore had positively responded to Indonesia`s decision to postpone the DCA negotiations until there was a new phase in diplomacy.

The decision to resume the DCA negotiations depended on the president and the foreign minister as Indonesia`s chief negotiator, he said.
