Many suspected it some knew it and ALL the Ron Paul poll spammers and truthers denied it, "how could somebody possibly spam a text or online poll" would scream a Ron Paul supporter every time their shenanigans were talked about.
"Some participants in the online political world have long suspected Paul's technically sophisticated fan base of manipulating online tools and polls to boost the appearance of a wide base of support. But the UAB analysis is the first to document any internet shenanigans."
Well is seems the poof is now available for all to see and some of the proof may be proof for prosecutors.
'Criminal' Botnet Stumps for Ron Paul, Researchers Allege
If Texas congressman Ron Paul is elected president in 2008, he may be the first leader of the free world put into power with the help of a global network of hacked PCs spewing spam, according to computer-security researchers who've analyzed a recent flurry of e-mail supporting the long-shot Republican candidate. "This is clearly a criminal act in support of a campaign, which has been committed with or without their knowledge," says Gary Warner, the University of Alabama at Birmingham's director of research in computer forensics. "The question is, will we see more and more of this, or will this bring shame to the campaigns and will they make clear that this is not a form of acceptable behavior by their supporters?" Warner pointed to provisions of the federal Can-Spam Act.
This should send the Ron Paulians over the edge as they will no doubt will deny the allegations and claim them to be a plot cooked up by the Black Helicopter forces. Digg is a hotbed for the Ron Paulians.

I do not believe the provisions of the CAN-SPAM Act will actually apply here, as the messages are not commercial in nature. I will have to dust off my copy of the "worthless" law and re-read it.

186, thanks for posting this. Interesting stuff. The Ron Paul-bots are certainly making a strong showing on the message boards of the Wired article you linked to. How strange.

I find it interesting that the author automatically concludes that the new evidence of "Spam" is from Ron Paul Supporters.
From what I have seen in the few new articles that are covering this, is that it has resulted in "A Violation Of Terms Of Service" at YouTube and thus allowed the removal of key Ron Paul Videos.
There are Two possibilities if you look objectivly at this information. One is the conclusion of the author. The Other is Exactly the counter the Author made. There is the possibility that this "Spam" was a determined effort to reduce the exposure of Ron Paul.
I would invoke the question Of Que Bono => Who Benifits. If it truly was a supporter, as the hasty conclusion states, then he should realize the error of his ways and stop for fear of getting other videos removed. However, If this trend continues, I would lean more toward "Foul Play" from another source.
I do find it interesting that there is only Assumption in all of the sources I have read to this point.
I would like to hear about IP Addresses and Who Owns Them before I will get on the "Damn Ron Paul Spammers" Bus.
