He expressed hope that with good communication and coordination among the relevant parties, no "Bintang Kejora" (Morning Star) flag (of the OPM) would be hoisted anywhere in the region.
"Our region is indeed vulnerable to security disturbances as it borders on PNG while certain areas serve as bases of groups that wish to secede from the Unitary State of Indonesia," Bambang said.
He said the police and various parties were continuing their efforts to persuade the secessionists to return to the fold of the Unitary State of Indonesia.
About the possibility that an Alert I status would be declared before December 1, Bambang said the police were ready for the possibility but it would depend on the situation.
