Senator Larry Craig in the Spotlight Again

Everyone remembers Larry Craig from the 'foot tapping scandal' but few appreciated that this matter was part of much bigger investigation by the local paper. Yesterday, reports of 8 incidents where Craig allegedly had sex or solicited sex with other men have emerged.

Eight men say they either had sex with Idaho Sen. Larry Craig or were targets of sexual advances by him at various times during his political career, a newspaper reported Sunday.

One of the men is the former escort whose allegations disgraced the Rev. Ted Haggard, former president of the National Association of Evangelicals, the Idaho Statesman reported.

The newspaper identified four men and reported details of the encounters they say involved Craig. It also reported the accounts of four other men who did not agree to be identified but who described sexual advances or encounters involving the conservative Republican.

I tend to distance myself from these types of stories which are more like gossip rather than news. The fact that Senator Craig was an outspoken Conservative and opponent of gay rights creates a compelling sense of irnoy that fuels this story.
