"Soeharto will continue to undergo intensive medical therapy with tight monitoring and blood transfusions," Dr Mardjo Soebiandono, head of a presidential physicians` team treating the former strongman said.
Speaking at a press conference at Pertamina Hospital in South Jakarta where Soeharto is being treated, Hardjo said Soeharto was generally still weak but his consciousness was improving and his systolic blood pressure was stable at 110-120 mm/Hg.
In addition, his appetite and the conditions of his heart and lungs were also improving, he said.
Meanwhile, Djoko Rahardjo, coordinator of the specialist doctors in the presidential medical team, said Seharto had also undergone haemodialysis and as a result the accumulation of liquid in his body had decreased.
"The volume of liquid in his legs and hands has been reduced but we are still doing the same thing with his belly," Djoko said.
Soeharto was admitted to Pertamina Hospital on Friday after suffering from anemia and low blood pressure due to heart, lung and kidney problems.
