Taser Death At Vancouver Airport: Why Is RCMP Getting The Whole Rap?
Politicians Are To Blame For Taser Use and Allowing A Weapon of Torture
Yes, I've watched the video. It was a brutal surreal scene of...TORTURE...Taser is an instrument of torture. Have you ever been struck with static electricity of a few volts walking with plastic soles on a carpet on a dry day? Oh, shit, it really hurts. Now imagine 50,000 volts going through your precious beloved body. The pain must be excruciating. Harmless? What a BS. It would probably leave scars not on your body but on your mind and soul for years to come, because it is TORTURE. The only difference is, it just takes a few moments to get it done, but it's TORTURE nevertheless.
Obviously different people react differently when they are inflicted with pain and corporal, electrostatic punishment. You've seen the BS testing on policemen and subjects obviously selected specially for this purpose, all physically fit people prepared for this test. What a sales pitch! Has it ever been tested on the elderly, diabetics, people with heart disease or other health problems, exhausted or emaciated people to see if they could survive? I really doubt it.
Now think of all the men and women risking their lives for us every day in a job that shows little gratitude. If I were a policeman I'd like to get my hands on any weapon that would make it easier for me to do my job. After all, the risk of getting killed or wounded or maimed is ever present. If things came to that I'd rather that the suspect suffered than me. That's self-preservation, but it wouldn't be up to me to make the rules of engagement and what weapons I'd be allowed to use.
Getting back to the scene at YVR, most people including the media got carried away by the brutal scene and missed how it all started. The RCMP was called in to face a suspect that showed signs of violence. A furious unkempt character speaking a strange language, smashing a piece of furniture and looking like he was ready to do more. That's all the information they had to respond to the emergency. As it turned out, it was a total breakdown in the system of clearing passengers at YVR, an airport that looked more friendly and helpful and efficient than it really was. The airport officials must have realized the shortcomings of arrival and clearance services, they took immediate steps for corrective action.
Some politicians immediately jumped on the bandwagon to announce a criminal investigation into RCMP activity. If there is any criminal investigation, it should look into who and why purchased the thousands of torture instruments in use in Canada and allowed these weapons to be used. The responsiblity for that certainly doesn't lie with the men and women in uniform.
