Tunisia continuing to strengthen ties with Indonesia
Tunisia and Indonesia signed several agreements related to trade, promotion and protection of investment, avoidance of double taxation, tourism, technical and scientific cooperation, information, training, religious affairs and bilateral consultation, the Tunisian Embassy in Jakarta said in a statement issued on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Change of November 7th 1987.
Two-way trade between Tunisia and Indonesia was less than US$100 million in 2006. Tunisia`s exports to Indonesia mainly consist of fertilizers (phosphoric acid), dates, textiles, mechanic and electrical components and baby food. Indonesia`s exports to Tunisia include plywood, textile, electronics, glassware, toys, timber products and tea.
Tunisia and Indonesia held the 8th session of Joint Commission and bilateral political consultation on November 2006 on the occasion of the visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia Abdelwaheb Abdallah, to Indonesia from 22 to 24 November 2006.
