"However, sometimes people use traditions and religions to destroy, kill and hate each other," Jusuf Kalla said.

The Vice President urged Maluku traditional leaders to produce local wisdoms which could move Maluku to reach the same level as other regions in the country.

Traditions should become the spirit to develop Maluku such as those in Japan and Thailand, he said. Kalla cited the example of Thai farmers who had managed to produce the best fruits dedicated to their King.

"Let`s work hard to produce something known worldwide such as those of Japan and Thailand. In Maluku, fishermen must be able to produce fish of the best quality," he said.
