Looks like the World Bank is going to extend $870m in loans to Iran, helping to relieve UN & US embargoes designed to pressure Iran to abandon its nuclear arms program....

WASHINGTON — The World Bank is defying requests from an influential congressman to stall nearly $900 million in loans to Iran.

This story highlights the strange machinations of international organisations.

Iran doesn't need the money - it is spending huge amounts on encouraging terrorism around the world, that would be better used to improve the position of its own citizens. The World Bank $900m could also be used in better places to promote peace and human welfare. But the Wiorld Bank is certainly sending a strange signal of support to a regime that is at best problematic.
