Today in Rome, Pope Benedict XVI admitted <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Americas’ colonization caused suffering and injustices. This papal apology fell short of recognizing genocide though.  Sadly, it only intends to placate criticism made by various Amerindians representatives and Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. They strongly rejected pope’s view of a happy colonization. Ratzinger made his comment during a recent apostolic visit to Brazil.
