Popular Christian singer disgraced with sex scandal
The Aizawl based Newslink has reported that the Manipur-based Hmar gospel singer Lalruotmawi who took the state of Mizoram by storm last year has been allegedly involved in a sex scandal.
According to The Morning Post, the New Life Ministry, a Christian organisation based in Trivandrum, Kerala and having a branch in Manipur, sacked Pastor C.V. John, the director of this ministry, last Friday, February 16, after it verified that John and the gospel singer had been having an affair.
Quoting the chairman of the ministry Rev Darsanglien, the daily said a copy of the termination letter was sent to Lalruotmawi and to her church in Manipur.
Even last year when the gospel singer was in Mizoram, rumours that John and the singer were lovers had done their rounds and this was repeated again early this month.
According to the daily, leaders of the ministry confirmed the affair between their director and their singer when John’s wife produced a digital photograph of the two people concerned in a compromising situation.
Apparently, C.V. John had taken the photographs with his digital camera while he and the singer were sexually engaged which he later failed to erase. His wife later found the images still in the camera which were afterwards shown to the leaders of the ministry.
A source today said John, a Keralite Christian, had voluntary resigned before he was terminated. He and his wife Chawngi have two married daughters.
Mizoram Upa Pawl (senior citizens) had been set on inviting the singer to general assembly which is slated for next month. It is a certainty that with the scandal now out, the singer with whom nearly all Mizo males above the age of 40 are in love with will not grace the assembly.
