As previously reported on NP, two teenage girls who kissed on a bus were kicked off after a female passenger complained. The disgusted bus driver stopped on the street and kicked the girls off the bus.
Wednesday, the transit agency chief apologized to the girls and their family.
"Removing the girls from the bus was not consistent with our policy," said TriMet General Manager Fred Hansen. "I want to reiterate that we welcome all riders on our system."

The 64-year-old driver also violated company policy that requires operators to call for assistance before removing any minors, TriMet said in a statement.

The driver, an 11-veteran who was not identified, will be disciplined, TriMet officials said, though no details were released.

Despite encouragement from others to consider a lawsuit, the mother of the girls said the family will "mull it over."

By avoiding monetarizing the situation, the girls involved would retain the moral high ground.

I could not agree more...I hope they do avoid it.
