Epuron Ad - Investing in wind Energy
If you thought energy companies just had wind between their ears, think again: an ad spot by a German company called EPURON, called "Power of Wind" is making its way around the web, and recently scored big, winning the Golden Lion for best film advertising spot at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes. The spot is an artful, beautifully executed example of the power of advertising (and now, the viral power of the net--I first saw it on The Onion's AV Club Videocracy site). Leave it to Europeans to revolutionize the 30-second spot. Maybe if there were ads like this in North America, we'd all be using wind power right now...
This was the second time the Conergy group was awarded for an advertising spot. In 2001, Conergy was a qualifier at Cannes. Now EPURON stands at the top of the ladder. "The Golden Lion proves that renewable energies can no longer be overlooked, not even the jury at Cannes,” replied Nikolaus Krane, Executive Board Member of Conergy AG and Managing Director at EPURON.
And here's what the viral vid kids have to say:
I love this guy. He makes the Geico cavemen seem so 15 minutes ago.
I liked that alot. But if I saw him walking towards me, anywhere, anytime, I would probably start crying.
Jonathan Glazer, watch out! ;)
Absolutely genius. The main character is perfect. What is it about a French accent that makes things more serious? Truly Amazing.
Amazing is not the word, it's even more than that.

A splendid treat for your mind, where you really feel great about creativity and what can it give to the world. " Un disposable message" will surely do something like this in my near future. hail "the power of wind"

That is one striking individual. The ad seems quite long, but really quite clever.

Very creative. There's some kind of Magritte reference, I think, but I don't know what it is.
