This ability to custom design the outbound channel per terminal enables an operator to realize an additional 50 percent throughput increase over the DVB-S specification. With scarce satellite capacity in many regions of the world, the Hughes system employing DVB-S2/IPoS with ACM brings additional capacity where it was not previously available, giving operators the ability to maximize the efficiency of bandwidth utilization and contain costs as they grow their businesses.

"Crossing this milestone confirms our leadership and the economic importance of the DVB-S2/IPoS standard with ACM," said Pradman Kaul, chairman and CEO, Hughes. "Many of our service provider customers have been constrained in growing their businesses due to a shortage of satellite capacity, a problem our systems help alleviate."
