According to area news reports, Detroit Edison performed a manual shutdown at the Fermi 2
nuclear power facility in Monroe, Michigan when two cooling pumps were found to be "off" on Wednesday. Detroit Edison indicated that the action is normal procedure when situations such as this occur.  At the time of the shutdown, the power plant was reported to be online and running at full capacity. The facility will not be placed back in service until an investigation is completed to determine the cause of the pump shut down.
