Luxama and Michael Beckford have something to really smile about these
days. At the fresh ages of twenty-two, they have created something that
no one has quite produced before. Although both Luxama and Beckford
were raised in Miami, Florida; the Haitian born Luxama has a first
class experience with poverty, third world education, a struggle for
food, water, clothing, and a decent place to reside.
Beckford being
born and raised in the land of the free, would seem to have had some
advantages in comparison with Luxama. No, that was not the case as the
two can tell you, “the amount of freedom that one has is often measured
by the amount of financial independence that one inherits or receives,”
says Beckford. Until the age of nine, Beckford was under the foster
care system formally known as H.R.S., now known as the Department for
Children and Families. With nine more needy children in the home with
Beckford, getting this far in life is one more statistic he describes
conquering. Like his partner, Beckford also had a daily struggle for
necessary food, water, clothing, and a decent education.
Luxama and
Beckford grew up just twenty minutes away from each other. Luxama
attended Homestead High School, and Beckford attended Miami Coral Reef
and Killian Senior High. Given their shared motivation and drive to
succeed, one would think that Beckford and Luxama knew each other for
most of their lives. When both Luxama and Beckford met back in October
of 2004 at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, they knew
first hand that they were going to build a vision and a dream for
something that would change our communities and the world in the
process.
For both Beckford and Luxama, the drama in building such a
vivid dream to create a project which will create a new niche market in
society has not only taken a toll on their lives, but also the lives of
the people surrounding them. Donetrading.com has become a glorious
upbringing and a departure from school in which is weighing in heavy as
they prepare for the site to be a hit amongst college students.
Both
Luxama and Beckford never dreamed of owning a business. Luxama wanted
to be a basketball star, while Beckford dreamed of becoming a detective
while watching the hit television show C .O.P.S. ®.
“God can bring
together the most unlikely relationships and turn them into
extraordinary successes,” says Beckford. Here you have two ordinary
individuals, whom met at an ordinary place in the school library, so
