Otis` flagship product reaches 100,000 order milestone

Since its launch in 2000, the Gen2 product line has expanded to cover applications from low-rise residential to high-rise office buildings. The Gen2 system features Otis' patented flat, polyurethane-coated steel belts and an energy-efficient permanent magnet gearless machine. The system uses half the energy of conventional geared machines. When used in conjunction with Otis' regenerative drives, the Gen2 elevator's energy efficiency increases even further, delivering a combined energy savings of up to 75 per cent. The system is also cleaner for the environment since its coated-steel belts and gearless machine do not require any additional lubrication.
