This is a followup of the story on Orville Mader wanted on a Worldwide Manhunt for Kidnapping and Sex with an 8 year old Thai Boy.  Currently Mader was previously convicted on Child Rape, with this his  second offence. Mader will be making an application for Bail to the courts, if approved, would most likely result in Thai Authourities who requested his extradition to be royally pissed and Canadians once again outraged at our British Columbia Justice system.

CBC News Reported the following:

A Canadian wanted on child-sex charges in Thailand was convicted in Cambodia of similar charges earlier in 2007.

This photo of Orville Mader, taken in mid-August 2007, was sent in by Sam Zeng, who worked with Mader in Japan. This photo of Orville Mader, taken in mid-August 2007, was sent in by Sam Zeng, who worked with Mader in Japan.

Information used to obtain an arrest warrant for Orville Mader says
he was convicted in absentia for debauchery for offences that occurred
in 2004.

Mader made a brief appearance in an Abbotsford, B.C., court via
video link Wednesday to confirm he has obtained a lawyer and will make
a bail application Thursday.

The 54-year-old Kitchener, Ont., resident, who has a home in the
Vancouver area but apparently has lived in Asia for years, is wanted in
Thailand on allegations he had sex with an eight-year-old boy.

Orville Frank Mader has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance.Orville Frank Mader has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance.

The court information also says there is evidence of sexual activity
with male children under 14 in e-mails exchanged in 2003 and 2004 in
Cambodia.

Mader was arrested last Friday after stepping off a flight at
Vancouver International Airport and held under a protective order after
a provincial court judge ruled he could present a threat to children.

November 2007 . Thai Manhunt over: Sex Suspect arrested in Vancouver

BREAKING NEWS

The manhunt for suspected pedophile who Thai police had previously issued an arrest warrant in the kidnap and sex abuse of an 8 year old boy has ended. Police in Vancouver have arrested  Orville Frank Mader. Mader will be turned over to Thai police to  face charges and stand trial.

The National Post stated the following: Police Colonel Apichart Suribunya told Reuters.

"Our concern
is Canadian police may only be able to hold him for a short period
because he apparently has not done anything wrong in Canada," Col.
Apichart said.

Thailand
issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Mader, 54, after a seven-year-old boy
said the Canadian asked him to perform oral sex on Mr. Mader at a hotel
in the beach town of Pattaya last week.

Thai police said on
Thursday that Mr. Mader, of Kitchener, Ont., was also being
investigated for the sexual abuse of three boys in Pattaya, about 150
km from Bangkok.

The boys were aged between seven and nine and
Mr. Mader could face up to 20 years in jail if convicted in Thailand, a
Pattaya police officer said.

"A seven-year-old boy identified him
from among a number of tourist pictures. He is wanted on charges of
sexual molestation against minors aged under 13," Police Major Sompol
Nakhapan said on Thursday.

Mr. Mader is also wanted in
neighboring Cambodia, where he was found guilty in 2004 of molesting
two boys under the age of 13. He was sentenced in absentia to 15 years
in jail.

Sex suspect arrested in Vancouver

Thai cops seek 2nd sex suspect

TORONTO - A Canadian man alleged to have sexually abused a young boy in Thailand has been arrested in Vancouver, say Thai police.

Two Thai police officials told The Canadian Press Friday that 54-year-old Orville Frank Mader had been arrested in Vancouver and would soon be returned overseas to face charges. Details of his arrest were not released. The RCMP could not be reached for comment.

The arrest came just one day after police in the Thai beach resort town of Pattaya issued a warrant for Mader's arrest.

Sgt. Maj. Pottaput Kamho said he got word from police in Bangkok that Mader had been arrested some time on Thursday.

Sgt. Sompol Nakkumpan, the lead investigator in the case, also confirmed the arrest. He said Mader came to their attention after the father of an eight-year-old boy alleged that his son had been sexually abused.

Nakkumpan said the boy reported being taken to a hotel where the encounter with Mader allegedly took place.

So far, Mader is facing charges in connection with the one incident. However, Nakkumpan says the Canadian is under investigation for two other similar incidents.

Mader has had previous contact with Asian police regarding alleged sex crimes.

In 2004, Cambodian police arrested him on two charges of sexually abusing young boys, but the case did not go to court.

Thai police say Mader will be returned to their country to face the charges. Canada has an extradition treaty with Thailand. However Canadian sex tourism laws allow for its citizens to be tried in this country for crimes committed abroad.

Neighbours of Mader's in the Vancouver area reported that he had moved overseas to teach. His present occupation is unknown.

Initial media reports said Mader hailed from Kitchener, Ont., but relatives say he had not lived there for decades.

The charges against Mader came just two weeks after a high-profile manhunt for another Canadian accused of sex crimes in Asia.

Christopher Neil was arrested in Thailand in October after Interpol launched an unprecedented manhunt based on Internet pictures.

The International Police Agency found roughly 200 photographs depicting sexual abuse of Asian boys by a man whose face had been digitally obscured.

Once computer experts were able to unscramble the image, Interpol circulated the picture and received hundreds of tips during an international manhunt for Neil.

He is charged with two counts of child sexual abuse and remains in police custody.

Neil had spent the years leading up to his arrest working as a teacher in various Asian countries. Days before his capture, he fled a teaching job in South Korea.

At the time of Mader's 2004 arrest, Cambodian officials reported that he, too, had worked as a teacher in Japan.

These two recent cases have prompted some Thai police officials to call for more thorough background checks on foreign teachers.

"It shouldn't be enough to wear white shirts and have a university degree. We need to know their background," police Col. Apichart Suribunya, head of Thailand's liaison office for Interpol, told the Associated Press.

Several Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, are popular with pedophiles due to lax law enforcement, corruption in the justice system and the easy availability of young boys and girls who are forced into prostitution by poverty.

Pattaya is a popular tourist destination with a reputation for a thriving sex industry and high crime rate.

Police said Mader and Neil had some mutual connections in Pattaya and were known to frequent the same hotel.

Personally, i think the graphic is a bit over the top and adds no value to the story. But thanks for getting the story up.

The thing being Christopher, since you are not from Canada, it may seem non value to you in the United States and over the top, but for some in Canada embarrassed by these recent pedophile developments, this is "Breaking News" !!  This news affects Canadians horrified that 2 of our citizens have been arrested recently and portrayed as Sex Tourists.

Due to Canada's smaller population of 31 million compared the US of over 250 million, you will have to forgive us in that perhaps we as Canadians are seen as more sensitive to these issues which are as not in the forefront or reported in the Canadian media as much as in the US due to our smaller population and local newspapers.

Currently with Canadians getting American shows such as "Datelines Perverted Justice" featuring Internet Sex Predators and Pedophilia in the States and now in Canada, this is an issue Canadians are understanding more in order us to  get our elected officials to enact tougher laws in our Country. A Country most in the United States still see in Canada as a "Catch and Release, Nanny State".

As for my "Rotating Breaking News Icon", I am not for sensationalism in the news and have used this icon only twice this entire year, both on this month's recent arrests of two Canadian pedophiles.

This icon much like the "Now Public Breaking News Lightning Bolt", is only on as a temporary placement for our Now Public Readers to "Direct our Readers" to a story until as such time "Now Public Editors" deem  "Newsworthy" and hence they will then place their own Now Public "Breaking News Icon" on it.  My Icon is removed shortly after Now Public deem it Newsworthy.  So you see I use it sparingly and not to tittilate and am correct in my judgement that it is Breaking News.

So in ending I hope you now know where I am coming from.

Thanks for the compliment though, it is much appreciated.

Unfortunately, Dateline's series is nothing but a ratings grabber and instills more fear in people than is sometimes rationale. No, I am not saying I am on the side of the pedophile. It is just that the mainstream media makes things sound much worse than they are in reality (such as the Cathoic priests, shark attacks, etc). Sensationalism sells.

Now I understand why you used the graphic. Totally understandable. I do the same thing with the word "breaking" in the headline until flagged.

Cheers!

Hey I totally agree with you on Dateline's Sensationlism, Perverted Justice though had been doing this long before Dateline came along. The difference being, Dateline, though sensationalistic, has brought pedophilia into the forefront showcasing how prevelant Internet Predators are in todays society and by feauturing the actual pedophile on television, it sort of gives a sense of what kind of person is driven to do this.  The viewing public have now seen ordinary normal types rich and poor, highly intelligent and mentally deficient commit unspeakable acts, which is shocking and also shows the tough job both the police and perverted justice have in catching these offenders and in some small way the Publics outrage may toughen laws, while providing much needed funds for Police and Perverted to protect our children.

Though I have never seen the story you speak of "Catholic Sharks attacking Priests", National Geographic shows it is possible when "Religion and Animals Go Bad" , especially when priests, whose penchant for thinking they can walk on water can lead to such tragedies.  (Okay, I twisted your words a bit, I still can have both rage at social evils and humour you know!) In ending, thanks for making a valid point here Chris, it is appreciated.
