I have developed a personal "safety process" for dipping. If the chip or cracker is large, I break it in half and dip twice instead of double dipping.
I keep a bowl of candy on my desk at work but insist on only providing wrapped treats. The idea of someone grabbing a handful of M&Ms, not knowing when they last washed their hands - or where those hands and fingers were before fingering all the candy in the bowl - is darn near nauseating!
