R.E.M. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last night. That means they've been rocking and rolling for a long time....artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record.   Check them out on Wikipedia  and have a lurk at their awesome YouTube channel here.

Just before the Georgia rockers' induction at the 22nd annual induction dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria, Grandmaster Flash stressed the connection between hip-hop and rock 'n' roll.

"That clock started ticking on R.E.M. in 1981 with the release of "Radio
Free Europe" on IRS Records. On March 12, Michael, Mike, Pete and Bill
take their place alongside countless other legends during a ceremony in
New York City."
