Up to 35 firefighters may loose their jobs and emergency cover to be manned from firefighters homes.

In this trial for Cornwall we see the government testing out new ideas which may or may not prove successful.

Hundreds of people have marched through a town in protest against proposed budget cuts to Cornwall's Fire Brigade.

Cornwall County Council wants to end overnight staffing at Camborne and Falmouth, the county's only stations which are manned around the clock.

The plans, drawn up because of budget constraints, have been opposed by the Fire Brigades' Union (FBU), which led the rally through Truro.

The union said the move would lead to an increased likelihood of injuries.

Firefighters working from home could be a great idea, does anyone know? Have you a story or photo to send. Thank you NowPublic members

Cornwall and England both of which are mainly rural have their own
particular needs. London is an anomaly due to its size and enormous wealth,
their economy and lifestyle is vastly different to our rural  way of life.

London's Government personnel working from home could be a good way of
saving money, providing the service is not diminished and real cost savings are
made.  More staff working from home would be a solution to traffic congestion,
pollution and most importantly cutting government waste.
