"Discover some of Alberta's great equestrian and hiking trails in the Cataract Creek area", says the Kananaskis High Country Camping website.  People from all over the world have enjoyed the spectacular vistas and trails in this area for many years.  But things are a little different now.  The area is now dotted with ugly scars resulting from clear-cutting.  This is what will happen throughout the eastern slopes of the Kananaskis area if Ted Morton, the Alberta Minister of Sustainable Environment, has his way.  Additional cutting was scheduled to begin by the end of June this year but, so far, it hasn't happened.  We're not sure why but we're certainly hoping we have finally been able to get through to Morton.  Our hearts would break if this happened to 800,000 more acres in our beloved Kananaskis.  We'll keep you posted.
