Life just got a little more exciting for people visiting the Paris zoo--a mother hippo gave birth to a rare pygmy hippo. Mama (Anais) and baby (Aldo) are doing fine, and the zoo is excited to help add to the small population of pygmy hippos out there--there are less than 3000 of them in the world. Aldo's birth was part of a program to increase the animal's population, particularly in Europe.
Pygmy hippopotamuses are, unlike their much bigger relatives, solitary animals, except during the reproductive season. The female cares for the newborn by herself, as does Aldo's mother Anais, Villenain said.

I like stories like these. These kinds of articles are more natural and peaceful to absorb. It sweeps people like me away from all of the violence, confusion and discord of humankind.
