Brian de palma has received a muted yet emotional response to his new movie "Redacted" at the Venice Film Festival today.

The movie focuses on the rape and murder of Abeer Qasim Hamza al-Janabi in March of 2006 at teh hands of US soldiers serving in Iraq.  The crime was well publicized but many of teh available images were edited or redacted, to protect teh public from their graphic nature.  De Palma attempted to showcase the event with tehse real images, but to his surprise he was also limited by legal binds.

The movie will be released in Europe and the US, but suprisingly in limited showings, as Magnolia Pictures does not believe teh movie will be succesful in the United States.
