Reflections on the first decade of blogging

I like the picture of Dave Winer and the idea of taking a breath and looking back on blogging. I am skeptical of the plug for a book by someone who is going to be blogging for ZDNet, though they are upfront about it.

I don't agree with the quote from Andrew Keen's book at all. While "horders of amateur journalists" may distort the news, elite cadres of rich capitalists from William Randolph Herst to "The Colonel" aka Robert McCormick to Rupert Murdoch may bankroll some good stories, they can gatekeep journalism into the realm of propaganda and distortion.

I'll be writing more about this as my own citizen journalism project, http://creatingcommunityconnections.org gets going full steam.
