The Team - Mole political reporting team have been busy this week following receipt of a mystery email purporting to come from the Reform UKIP Group, although unsigned and with no confirmation of those in the "supposed" group detailed.

The document, also featured on the British Independence & Democracy Forum, with the origin of the communication being also a mystery to its 4,251 registered users, some with strong historic UKIP links.

What is crystal clear is that the United Kingdom Independence Party needs a miracle to survive the allegations going the rounds.

We are astonished that a party who have campaigned repeatedly about the vagaries of the European Union have backed themselves into a corner and seem to be incapable of solving the funding issues tearing its membership apart.

Ignoring allegations, which largely, but not exclusively, as the document touches on) pertain to claimed extensive personal arid corporate fraud are a likely to result in the rapid demise of the organisation.

UKIP and the Ashford Call Centre - what are they hiding?

The British public are clearly tired of political sleaze and UKIP seem destined for the fast road to oblivion.

Some of the newer political parties, such as the Popular Alliance, must be gaining membership and rapid momentum. They seem to have developing sensible policies which will undoubtedly attract the interest of disaffected UKIP followers.

Fellow Eurosceptic,

You will, no doubt, be only too aware that the party is the target of a concerted media campaign aimed at discrediting us in the eyes of the public- No doubt your local chairman has been keeping you fully informed as to developments as they have arisen and, as you will know, there have been a considerable number of such developments! Although these stories have been, in the main, both sensationalist and unfounded, they have unquestionably damaged the image of our party - as recent poor election results bear witness to

It is for this reason that the Reform UKIP Group, made up of concerned and sincere members like you, has come into being. We do not share the NEC's opinion that UKIP can weather the media storm untarnished. Far from it in fact. It is our firm belief that ignoring the allegations, which largely (but certainly not exclusively) pertain to claimed extensive personal arid corporate fraud, will inevitably mark us with the same indelible stain of corruption that so epitomises the main parties. We are not of their ilk and that is why we will ultimately win through and triumph - but only once we have put our own house in order!

The NEC, it appears, would like nothing better than to brush those extremely serious matters beneath the carpet - which is exactly what they have been doing for as long as anyone can remember, it is also exactly why we are now vulnerable to the media maelstrom that engulfs us week after week!

There is only one course of action open to us, if oar party is to survive' That is to follow the path of all honest men and women - the path that demands transparency, openness and accountability'

For that reason it is vital that:

(a) All accounts pertaining to the Ashford Call Centre be independently and externally audited and the results made available for public inspection, Only then will we know the truth. Can it really be true that donations from the public, said to amount to anything from £100,000 to £750,000 nave "disappeared* - or is it as the NEC maintains, that every penny can be accounted for?

(b) Similarly our MEP’s must be held to account, through an independent and external audit, for every Euro they have ever received from the E.U. in allowances and expenses, Only through such a rigorous process can we hope to establish the truth in respect of the deeply disturbing media allegations of embezzlement, fraud and misappropriation of what are claimed to be, huge sums of public money - possibly in excess of £1 million - for both personal and political gain!

Failure to "grab the bull by the horns* now will undermine al future efforts in our titanic struggle to recover our independence from the EU. Failure to act decisively and fearlessly will be deliberately misconstrued by the Europhile media as proof-positive that the United Kingdom Independence Party is indeed as corrupt as they have repeatedly claimed'

For that reason alone, failure to thoroughly address these issues will inevitably condemn us, in perpetuity, to the political fringe. Doing nothing therefore is not art option and anyone who believes it is - is either a fool or motivated! by something other than Euroscepticism!

So we insist that whilst promoting our policies with the utmost vigour, we must also demand from our various branch chairmen that they get assurances from the NEC that once the local elections have ended that an independent and external audit of ail the Ashford accounts and of our MEP’s EU receipts be undertaken as quickly as is possible. Time is not on our side in shaking off the stigma of corruption!

If such a process confirms malpractice then firm and resolute action must be taken, If the body UKIP is found to be cancerous then let us cut out ALL the malign growth and, just as importantly, let us be seen doing ill Only by being seen to have put our house back in order will we have any hope of restoring our party's reputation amongst the public and progressing forward in achieving our noble goals.

Remember: One hand on the tiller - the other on the till, is a time-proven recipe for corruption'
