Religious Theme for Phone Cards
U.S. Starcom Inc. recently announced that it has agreed on an exclusive deal with the Catholic authorities in Mexico. The agreement was the permission to use the image of the Our Lady of Guadalupe on the card. The card will also officially carry the official insignia of the famous Mexico City shrine that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
U.S. Starcom Inc. is a distributor and marketer of prepaid phone cards. The recent decision aims to capture the attention of Hispanic immigrants using the image that will placed on the phone cards. The special phone cards will be sold starting June 1.
Jack Lennon, U.S. Starcom Inc. spokesman, said that the company is also planning to sell a $3 prayer card. The company is also planning to market a card that would allow the buyers to have votive candles lit in the shrine on their behalf.
The company said the prepaid cards would help the Plaza Mariana Foundation in Mexico raise $100 million. The foundation will receive 25 cents for every dollar of profit that will be earned by the prepaid cards.
