Google has developed a prototype cell phone that could reach markets within a year, and plans to offer consumers free subscriptions by bundling advertisements with its search engine, e-mail and Web browser software applications, according to a story published today in The Wall Street Journal.
Now, I"m not sure exactly what this is going to mean for us the consumers, but it could be interesting. I know, Google has it's fingers in too many pots, but still intersting. Lord knows it has to be better than the iPhone.

Baedon Glendower, weird stuff! I'd always dismissed the GooPhone rumors -- why the heck would Google want to get involved in hardware development -- but if the WSJ is reporting it...
