Along with the claim of nuclear "rights," Ahmadinejad was set to tout a purported "herbal" cure for AIDS, the news agency Fars reported."The drug named 'IMOD' is completely effective and safe with no proven side effects," Iran's Minister of Health Kamran Bagheri Lankarani said.
Unfortunately for Ahmadinejad, the President of Gambia (another hotbed of scientific research and innovation) beat him to the punch, as reported at NP three days ago: (h/t publicreader)
"A claim by Gambian President Yahya Jammeh that he can cure Aids in
three days has been lambasted by a leading South African HIV/Aids
specialist."

What the devil do you suppose is going on, Nuke? Is there something in the worldwide dictatorial water supply that makes these leaders delusional? These claims are horribly irresponsible because some desparately ill people will doubtless believe them.

Good question. I speculate Ahmadinejad's announcement is just more 'bread and circus' to placate the major population centers. Reports from outlying areas of armed revolt (which suggest US spec ops support), and falling oil prices add more pressure to an already unstable Iranian economy. Ahmadinejad is as popular in Iran as Bush is in the US.
But Gambia? Sheesh, I dunno.
