A revolution in Love, the idea to organize a tough journey, filled with...
THE COURAGE TO BE 2GETHER!
A peace foundation Breaking the Ice,
joins 2gether people who are natural enemies.
A revolution in Love marked the idea to
organize a tough journey, filled with obstacles and danger.
Making a team out of people who for
political reason hate each other.
The synthesis lies in the
transformations of human relationships.
The best antidote to racism and war has
been found by sharing all 2gether danger, work and join effort to
reach a task.
Breaking the Ice is a non-profit NGO
born in Israel and head quartered in Berlin .
Founded in 2003, the group crossed the
dangerous Drake Passage between Chile and Antarctica and then scaling
a previously unexplored mountain.
The team consisted of four Israelis and
four Palestinians.
Funded by private donations and
prestigious figures such as the Dalai Lama, Simon Peres, and Kofi
Annan, the project and the documentary film were so successful that
the organisers put 2gether another
event.
Another tough challenge, to travel from
Jerusalem to Tripoli, Libya, on an old fire truck.
The old fire truck is the symbol to
douse the flames of the war.
This time were nine people-two
Americans, a Ukrainian, an Iraqi,an Afghan, an Israeli, a
Palestinian, and an Iranian, seven men and two women, they met for
the first time.
Breaking the Ice is focused in the
Courage of Dialogue, and this aspect makes the project different from
similar ones which usually include people who are already committed
to pacifist activism.
Breaking the Ice instead makes a point
of bringing 2gether people who have direct experience of the trauma
and horror of war, who would have a natural hate with their enemies.
The new project brings 2gether
Kazhushko, a Ukrainian who had fought in Iraq, with Latif Yahia, an
ex-bodyguard of one of Saddam Hussein's son, veteran of the Iran-Iraq
War.
Alaria, a Palestinian who saw his
cousin killed during the Intifada, and Gil Fogiel, an Israeli
military pilot who was shot down over Lebanon in 1982 and spent two
years in Syrian jails.
Gailit Oren she is an Israeli pacifist
even tough her mother was killed by a suicide bomber.
One of the Americans, Patrick Sheridan,
a New York fire-fighter who lost his best friend on 9/11, will be
travelling with an Afghani.
Putting 2gether all these different
people who have in common sufferings, and making them working to
overcome tough challenges, helps to promote right human
relationships.
The courage to stay united to fight
common obstacles is a remarkable starting point to let the world know
that is possible to solve problems if goodwill is there!
From problems...towards
group-foundations...to practical solutions.
From violent misunderstandings, rooted
in the past, to deep understandings.
From the will to change the other, to
the will to be changed by the other.
From hate to forgiveness, finding the
unity in things rather then disparities.
Sharing feelings, actively mirroring
each other, listening.
Containing the opposites,
interconnectivity.
Having the courage to scream:”We can
make it 2gether!”
