Rice, sugar to be excluded from AEC`s tariff reduction list

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)
trade ministers have agreed to Indonesia`s and the Philippines` request
that rice and sugar be exempted from the tariff reduction scheme to be
implemented as part of the Asean Economic Community (AEC) concept in
2015, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pagestu said here Monday.

The two countries` requests were approved at an Asean trade ministers`
meeting held in Manila August 24-26 to discuss the final blueprint of
the AEC concept to be signed by the Asean leaders at their summit in
Singapre next November.
