Research In Motion has developed new software that would allow it to continue operating in the United States should the courts ban its BlackBerry hand-held devices in the country. RIM, based in Waterloo, Ont., said its new "software workaround designs" would allow service to continue even if opponent NTP Inc. wins the next stage in a long-running patent dispute.
