Three Canadian soldiers were killed by a roadside IED in southern afghanistan Wednesday morning while travelling in an unarmoured all-terrain vehicle. They were on a supply run between checkpoints when the explosion occured. The names of the soldiers are being withheld pending notification of their families.
This brings the total number of soldiers kill in Afghanistan to 60.
"The three soldiers were travelling in an open-top, unarmoured all-terrain vehicle in the volatile Panjwaii district around 8 a.m. local time when the vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device, the military said.
The explosion occurred as the soldiers were on a resupply mission about 40 kilometres west of Kandahar City."
