OLATHE, Kan. (AP) -- A man took several people hostage while robbing a bank Wednesday and then transported them to a suburban airport before the suspect was shot by police, authorities said.

No one else was apparently injured, authorities said.

The suspect was taken by helicopter to a hospital, and condition was not immediately known, Sgt. Mike Butaud said. A spokeswoman at the hospital said she could not release any details.
