Dr Magister
reports on La Civiltà Cattolica's publication of an enthusiastic review by Giuseppe Esposito of a 2005 book about the Swiss philosopher and philologist Romano Amerio, whose work was widely, that is to say almost completely, ignored during his lifetime (he died in 1997) except by a few specialists and those in the various traditionalist communities.
Amerio was a severe critic of the 'project' of the Second Vatican Council: never having read any of his writings I don't know how much of that critique was laid against the conciliar texts themselves and how much against their 'reception'. In any event, the fact that there may be some at the Holy See who are working toward a 'rehabilitation' of Amerio's
opus is undeniably noteworthy, although the day has passed, I think, when simple publication in the Jesuit-run Civiltà Cattolica is necessarily a sign of intentions at the Secretariat of State.

This is great, glossator. Thanks for your unique perspective: I don't know that we'd get this POV from anyone else currently posting to NowPublic. Keep it up!
