An SUV ran the curb and struck several students at Ralston Middle School in Belmont, California on Wednesday. The SUV driver was reportedly there to pick up a student, but no other details about the driver have emerged so far, nor have any other details become available about the status of the thirteen children who were admitted to the hospital yesterday along with the driver.
At the scene, investigators noted the absence of skid marks that would have indicated the driver tried to stop, but said it was too soon to draw conclusions about what that meant."It certainly all falls into the investigation, but at this point we have no cause to believe it was an intentional act," said Belmont Police Lt. Dan DeSmidt.
Parents and school staff members used a jack and their collective muscle to right the SUV under which several children were pinned.
