Russia Defenders of Animals Rights called "Vita" held a demonstration on Saturday in front of the British Embassy in Moscow, to protest the bearskin hats worn as ceremonial uniform by some British Army Guards regiments. The tall black hats are made from Canadian Bear fur, they have tried to make synthetic fur but said they had little success due to static electricity and lack of weather proofing. They are also worn for ceremonial reasons by some Canadian, Danish and Dutch regiments.
