Russian Sub and Crew In Trouble
The Russian navy is involved in a race against time to rescue seven sailors from a submarine trapped on the sea bed in the Russian Far East.
Pacific Fleet chief Admiral Viktor Fyodorov said a rescue vessel had attached a cable to the submersible, hoping to tow it to safety.
But there are contradictory reports about the stage of the rescue effort.
The Priz submersible is caught in fishing net and officials have warned the air supply is running out.
US, Britain and Japan have scrambled their remote deep-sea rescue vessels but they are not expected to reach the site off the Kamchatka Peninsula for several hours.
