The San Antonio Rock 'n' Roll Marathon took place on Nov. 15, 2009. It was a good day for Kenyan runners as all Top 5 finishers hailed from the African nation. Gilbert Koech won the San Antonio Marathon with a time of 2 hours, 14 minutes and 39 seconds. Fellow Kenyan Laban Moiben finished 42 seconds behind with a time of 2:15.21.

In the women's category, Russia's Tatiana Pushkareva of Russia led the pack with a time of 2:30.30. Fellow Russian Svetlana Ponomorenko finished second in 2:34.57.

Approximately 30,000 runners took part in the 2nd annual San Antonio Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, which took place on a 26.2-mile route that cut through downtown San Antonio.
