ISUAL EFFECTS The Orphanage to set up Vancouver studio
San
Francisco's The Orphanage (founded by Lucasfilm veterans) will open a
Vancouver studio Oct. 1, 2006. This will allow the visual effects firm
to take advantage of Canadian tax breaks and defray the high cost of
doing business in the US. The company is set to grow its work force by
30 percent. This move follows the decision of another San Francisco
visual effects house, Giant Killer Robots, that is planning to open a
Vancouver studio.
