Sanctuary Cities: Another Liberal Disaster?

How many innocent American Citizens have been killed due to the Bleeding Heart Liberals who run the Democrat and some in the Republican Party’s? Who is it that has ordered local law enforcement to ignore the immigration status of violent murderers, rapists and drunk illegals. Who is it that has let these cities be taken over by viscous Gang Bangers, many who are here illegally and are easy to track and deport.

The trial Lawyers are getting ready to start a blitz of lawsuits in these cities. The Newark episode is just the tip of the iceberg. Across America violent criminals have been protected and tolerated to roam our cities and kill, rob, rape and beat American Citizens (many Mexican- American Citizens) It is a scandal that statistics have not yet caught up to.

In May 2007, Detroit became the latest US “sanctuary city.” Sanctuary cities pass ordinances which ban the profiling of people based on race, ethnicity, dress or appearance, and immigration status. Police in sanctuary cities are effectively prohibited from asking about immigration status without criminal cause. Detroit joined at least 30 other American cities with similar legislation, including Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Baltimore, New York, Houston, Seattle, and Washington, DC.

Charles Ramsey, Chief of Police in Washington, DC, explains that his police department “is not in the business of inquiring about the residency status of the people we serve, and it is not in the business of enforcing civil immigration laws.”

Sanctuary cities defy federal guidelines established after the 9/11 attacks. These guidelines call on local law enforcement agencies to help enforce immigration laws, ostensibly to prevent the entry and movement of terrorists.

“I will not allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to cooperate in any way, shape, or form with these raids,” said Mayor Newsome. “We [San Francisco] are a sanctuary city, make no mistake about it.”

So Liberal Mayors across the country will not take the few minutes to contact ICE if they know that a violent illegal immigrant is about to be released onto society, free to rape your children, murder your school child on the way to class or break into your house and just about terrorize your city.

On June 15 The House amended the Homeland Security funding bill to withhold emergency aid from U.S. “sanctuary cities” that shelter illegal immigrants. The 234-189 majority was a victory for U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., who has failed to win passage for similar measures seven times, Fifty Democrats voted for the amendment.

So Tom Tancredo gets more and more powerful. Those who would like to deport all the illegals get to flex their muscles. The groups like La Raza who pressured these cities to become sanctuary’s

for violent murderers have put the decent hard working immigrant who’s only crime was to come to the U.S. (yes technically illegally) but with no malice or intent on hurting American Citizens in a desperate situation.

Based on a one-year in-depth study, Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute of Atlanta estimates there are about 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States who have had an average of four victims each. She analyzed 1,500 cases from January 1999 through April 2006 that included serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides and child molestation committed by illegal immigrants.

28 percent of the inmates in our prisons in the United States are criminal aliens, 28 percent. And that includes our city, our county, our State and our Federal penitentiaries. And it costs us $6 billion a year to provide for the incarceration of the criminal aliens, and that is just the Federal dollars to speak of. And once we reach down into the cities, into the counties, there are other numbers out there that would grow that greater and greater. It is a minimum of $6 billion. And these numbers have come from, their SCAAP funding, the State Criminal Alien Assistance Plan. And all States don’t apply for SCAAP funding. So we know that these numbers are low numbers, not high numbers.

We are saving the Mexican Government billions of dollars as they do like Castro did, they tell their worst criminals “what do you prefer jail here or freedom there and point them to the border”.
