Sapphire Unveils the x1950 Pro Dual
Sapphire
announced the Sapphire x1950 Pro Dual, a single-card graphics solution
featuring two x1950 Pro processors on a single board. The card was
unveiled yesterday at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), currently underway in Las Vegas.

The two GPUs are
connected together via an internal Crossfire link; however, the
Sapphire x1950 Pro Dual still retains the external Crossfire link, with
the possibility to set-up the card in quad Crossfire setups, when the
proper driver support is available.
The
two cores still operate with the same GPU and memory clocks as their
single GPU counterparts, i.e. 580MHz and 1400MHz respectively. However,
each core still requires its independent memory, and the x1950 Pro Dual
is equipped with a total of 1GB DDR3 video RAM; 512MB for each core.
The
graphics card offers native HDCP support via its two DVI connectors.
The ATI driver also allows the card to switch between two different
modes of operation: stand-alone and Crossfire. Setting the card in
Crossfire mode will boost the performance on graphics-hungry
applications, however, only a single DVI connector will be available to
display the signal. If you require dual-displays, stand-alone mode is
the only way to go...
Expect this beast to be on shelves by next February with a price tag around $350-400 (Lm115-132).
