Scientology should be met with tolerance

As to Tom Cruise, he is more than a Scientologist, just as I am more than a Jew and Barack Obama and John McCain are more than Christians. Tom is a loving husband, a devoted father, a hard working, dedicated actor and producer, and, as anyone who knows him will tell you, a fine, decent, generous man. He deserves better from you.

I find in this letter to the editor the words I wish I had written and want to share them with the Now Public community. As a Scientology Volunteer Minister , Youth for Human Rights advocate and mother from Boston I am very concerned with the willingness of some groups on the internet to engage in Religious intorance and hate.

The forwarding of lies and altered information (from a few with vested interest) to upset and use a generation of young people to attack religion when their talents could be used by so many volunteer groups around the world to truely change the world saddens me greatly.

I know a great deal of dedicated, loving, generous Scientologists, devoted decent people who have the right in American to practice their own religion. And yes, I thank God I live in America and pray that we as Americans live up to The First Amendment to our Constitution.
