Scientology Volunteers Help the Children of Tamil Nadu, India

They travel throughout the region, visiting with local leaders, finding out what each village or town needs and providing services that really help. That's how the members of the Mobil Volunteer Ministers Center of Tamil Nadu, India have come to be known, and why they are becoming an institution in the region.

In almost every case the local leaders request seminars based on the chapter of the Scientology Handbook called "The Technology of Study."

One school principal recently described how the Scientology Volunteer Minister who worked with the students at his school went "non-stop from 10 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon for 3 days straight" and described him as "a magnificent man."  He wondered how the volunteers even found his little village, but he was very glad they did.  After watching the volunteers in action, and seeing the results in his pupils, he was impressed with "how much responsibility they take for the children."

Another principal expressed how he felt about the help the Volunteer Ministers gave his school, saying it was "very useful" to his students, that it improved their understanding and helped them to learn any subject.  He noticed how much more energetic the children were after the seminar.  He was glad the teachers attended, as now they too will be able to provide this help to future pupils in the school.

What really tells the story is the pictures of the children themselves.

Here, the children of one village school run to meet the Scientology volunteers and start their seminar.

They help unload the truck and file into the classroom to begin the program.

For three days straight they study the information from the "The Technology of Study" booklet, based on a chapter of the Scientology Handbook

At the end of the seminar the pupils and their teachers are proud to receive their certificates and thrilled with the skills they gained.

At another school, one of the Scientology Volunteers can be seen, giving help to a group of students.

And the student enthusiasm at the end of their seminar speaks for itself!

Nearly 30 years ago, when L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Scientology religion, developed the Scientology Volunteer Ministers program, he wrote:

"...a Volunteer Minister is a person who helps his fellow man on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others.

"A Volunteer Minister does not shut his eyes to the pain, evil and injustice of existence. Rather, he is trained to handle these things and help others achieve relief from them and new personal strength as well.

"How does a Volunteer Minister accomplish these miracles? Basically, he uses the technology of Scientology to change conditions for the better—for himself, his family, his groups, friends, associates and for mankind.
